With the motto, “Each child. Their future. Our World.” Pflugerville Independent School District strives to provide the very best in educational opportunities for its students.  Pflugerville ISD encompasses the city of Pflugerville as well as parts of Austin, Coupland, Hutto, Manor, and Round Rock. The student population of PISD has more than doubled in the last ten years to a current enrollment of 20,000. The rapid rate of growth is expected to continue and the student population of PISD is expected to double again within the next ten years.

PISD consists of 26 campuses, including 3 high schools, 5 middle schools, 17 elementary schools, and one alternative campus. Wieland Elementary and the Robert Provan Opportunity Center are the newest campuses in PISD, both opening their doors for the 2007-08 school year. An 18th elementary school, José Riojas Elementary, is scheduled to open within the next two years.

The Texas Education Agency rated PISD as Academically Acceptable on its 2007 Academic Excellence Indicator System.

Schools in PISD receiving Recognized ratings from TEA for 2007 included Pflugerville, Parmer Lane, Timmerman, Northwest, Murchison, and Rowe Lane Elementary Schools.

Texas Monthly magazine named Parmer Lane Elementary to its list of High Performing Public Schools in December 2007. Parmer Lane was also named to the Texas Business and Education Coalition’s Honor Roll for the second consecutive year in 2007.

Pflugerville ISD is culturally diverse with a student population of 22.7% African American, 34.5% Hispanic, 33.8% White, .3% Native American, and 8.7% Asian. Of the PISD student population, 41.5% are economically disadvantaged and 13.6% have English as a second language.
